Investing in Common Stock

Thursday 23 August 2007 @ 2:29 am

Common stock represents ownership in a company. When you purchase shares in a corporation, you become, in effect, a silent partner (unless, of course, you have the funds to acquire a meaningful percentage of the equity, in which case you can elect yourself to the Board of Directors and enact changes). As such, the value of your investment is directly tied to the operating results of the business over the long-run, just as if you had opened a coffee shop with your best friend, or bought a miniature golf course with your family.

How to get JV Partners to Maximize your Sales

Monday 20 August 2007 @ 3:45 am

Its no secret that JVs (joint ventures) and
cross promotions are one of the most productive
ways to make high volumes of sales on the
Internet.

Today I want to talk about why they work so
well, and how you can make the most of them to
explode your online income.

Traditionally, JVs are most common between two
people who have created a product and are
selling it online. But that needn’t be the case
and I will tell you shortly of a way in which
you can get all the benefits, traffic and sales
of a JV without even having a product of your
own.

But first lets look at the principals of it:
What actually happens in a JV cross-promotion?

Webites promote other websites for two main
reasons:

1. To earn income from commission sales.

2. To pay, or earn, favors.

The first of these you might expect, the second
is more intricate.

You see, when you’re running an online business,
your options and your growth are restricted if
you try doing it all on your own.

Sure, there’s pay-per-click advertising, article
marketing, traffic exchangers, and a variety of
ways you can draw traffic to your site by paying
for it.

But nothing beats personal recommendation.

Its human nature: We all prefer to buy through
personal recommendation than by enticing
advertisements.

And JV’s, or cross-promotions are all about
personal recommendation.

The only thing is - as every super-affiliate
knows - even if you’re offering attractive
commission rates, the site that’s getting
promoted always gets more out of the deal than
the JV partner who’s doing the promoting. Look
at this comparision:

The JV partner doing the promotion gets:

1. A ‘notional’ favour from the site it
promotes.
2. Commission payments, hopefully paid in good
time but always at the discretion of the site
owner.

The site being promoted gets:

1. Lots of new list members
2. Lots of Sales
3. Lots of recognition

Which would you rather?

Can you see now why the benefit isn’t split
evenly in a JV deal?

This is one of the reasons why it is more
difficult than many people think to get JV
partners promoting for you.

No matter how attractive your commission
percentages are, you will always be getting more
out of the deal than your JV partner. Especially
if your landing page is a list-building squeeze
page.

But there is an option available. Especially if
your aim is to build a list.

You could run a MyViralSpiral site.

MyViralSpiral is a webserver script that gives
you a complete solution for building a list and
a business online.

One of its features is that it turns the above
JV example on its head to provide more of a win-
win for both parties. Here’s what you can do
with it:

As a listbuilder, you can offer a squeeze page
for your JV partner to promote. He then sends
his list to the squeeze page, where they sign up
to your list. Then, this is when it gets
interesting:

Your JV partner can decide which offer page his
signups are directed to after signup.

Gone is the traditional method whereby once his
leads have signed up to you they’re yours, to
direct wherever you like. With MVS, your JV
partner can choose what to show them *after*
they’ve joined your list…

It might be to his own product, or an affiliate
link somewhere else - or he may choose to use
his affiliate link for your product (in keeping
with the normal method).

The point is, your JV partner has more say about
who benefits from his promotion and how. And
that kind of power makes all the difference when
it comes to getting others to promote for you,
and build your list.

This is one of many characterisics of
MyViralSpiral that make it well worth a good
look if you want to start building JV
relationships.

Shake lights

Saturday 18 August 2007 @ 3:50 am

Shake Lights - Fake or Not?
by: Shake Lights

The Truth About Shake Lights or Shake Flashlights.

There Are Two Types On The Market Today. Read more below:

(Type 1) Non-Rechargeable Shake Lights w/Lithium Batteries and LED Bulbs:

The Type 1 Shake Lights are actually not rechargeable and run on two lithium batteries. If you know about lithium batteries, they last for years and are used on such items as lawn sprinklers, smoke alarms and cameras to ensure years of backup power. But the truth is the shake and rechargeable part of it is false and does not work. But these are still a great value. Why?

Think about a typical flashlight that takes batteries. Most flashlights take 4 D-size batteries which have an average price of $8. If you put these new batteries in a flashlight and turned it on how long would the power last? 2 Hours? Maybe 3 Hours? And you are out $8 plus the cost of the flashlight.

You would spend $80 to power a regular flashlight for the same amount of time.

Why does this matter? We conducted a series of tests to determine the average ‘light-life” of these lights by leaving them on until they went out. Each light tested lasted a minimum of 30 hours before they got dim and some even over 40 hours of continuous use! Even if you left the light on for 5 minutes each time you used it, this would last between 360 to 480 times of use! All for $6.99! For the price of about one set of D batteries you could have 10 times the life of these batteries. And do not forget D batteries often get rusty or that toxic battery acid type stuff on them.

Do you want your wife, child or relative changing batteries with battery acid oozing out?

The Type 1 Lights are the ones sold on Shake-Lights.com. We consider these the best value for your hard-earned money.

(Type 2) “As Seen On TV” Rechargeable Shake Lights

Almost impossible to find anymore.

Type 2 shake lights look very similar to Type 1. These are from the famous “As Seen on TV” ads and are not really being sold much today. These do have magnets and recharging ability, But as you use them the working ability diminishes into nothing and you are left with a inferior product in our opinion. Every rechargeable cell wears out after repeated use. So at some point they will not work. Also, magnets lose their magnetic ability when they are moved around, and rechargeable powered devices lose power when not used. How many times did you charge something, and if not used in a long time the battery is dead? Same story here.

Do you want to grab your flashlight and have to shake it for 30 seconds before use? Imagine you hear a noise in the house…. do you want to make noise shaking a flashlight? NO! In a tight spot fixing something? How can you shake this light? Seems impractical.

Why do all these lights look the same?

Money. The idea was based on principle but not cost effective and practical (which means PROFITABLE). So these manufacturers, who had tons of these units already made, adapted them to work with lithium batteries. This was a brilliant idea since they last much longer than regular lights and are much lighter. For the price you cannot beat them!

Here are some uses of the Shake Lights:

* Take it camping or on a trip
* Throw one in each of your cars
* Give one to Grandma if power goes out!
* Put under your bed to scare your wife with late night stories
* On top of refrigerator for late night snacks
* In the back of the closet for the storage you cannot identify
* For guests to get around your house.
* Fuse Panel or Circuit breaker box

WHY DO MOST PEOPLE FAIL?

Most of the information you need to successfully start an
Internet
business is available, so why do most people still fail?

Here’s something very, very important… everything you need
to
make money online or offline is available to you right
now… the
problem is, “who do you trust?” and “what do you believe?”.

It’s scary to have to ‘commit’… you’re not sure if what
course of
action you decide to take will pay off or not.

You’re afraid to waste your time in activities that will not
bring
you closer to your financial and personal goals. You are
right to
be cautious… but don’t confuse being cautious with being
prudent.

Sometime the most prudent thing to do is to take action even
when you do not have all the facts…!

Just getting started is the best course of action. Pick a
target and
shoot! If you miss the target, you move on to the next one.

I guarantee you one thing: Doing nothing will for certain
get you
one thing: NOTHING.

Taking action toward your ‘what you want’ will always win…
even
if you start wrong, it’s better than sitting still. As you
move toward
something you create ‘course corrections’, refine your
strategy,
learn from your mistakes but YOU KEEP ON MOVING.

Most of the information in ebooks is OK… some of it is
pretty bad
advice.

But you know by now that you need more than advice… you
need a
‘model’ to follow and a plan if you’re going to be
successful online.

WHY MOST PEOPLE DON’T GET IT

In a world with almost infinite possibilities and infinite
options people
are more CONFUSED about ‘what to do’ than ever before.

The above is part of what I learned from a lessons series
that changed
me from being a loser to being a winner.

Choosing an HDTV television

Thursday 16 August 2007 @ 9:20 am

By Gregg Pennington | Published 09/15/2006 | Computers & Technology |

To take full advantage of the great number of HDTV stations you can get with your satellite system, you will want a television with a breathtaking picture and mind blowing sound. When shopping for a television today, you have many more options than just a few years ago. From several hundred dollars, to a price similar to that of a new Corvette, you can choose the television to fit your budget and lifestyle.

If you want to watch satellite programming you will need a tv that is at least HDTV ready. Your satellite service provider will supply you with an HDTV tuner. Even if you will not be watching much HDTV programming, there is still a huge benefit to watching a digital television. All HDTV and HDTV ready tv\’s contain upconversion circuitry that cleans up the picture with even non HDTV signals.

If you watch a lot of movies or dvd\’s, you might want to purchase a widescreen television. A widescreen tv has a 16:9 aspect ratio screen, as opposed to the traditional television screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio. You can enjoy watching movies on a screen shaped like a movie theater screen, and view non digital programming in a side cropped view, or stretch the picture to varying degrees to fill the screen. All HDTV programming uses the 16:9 aspect ratio.

The least expensive option is the good old fashioned CRT (cathode ray tube) television. It has been around since 1927, and it is the least expensive option. It is built around a single picture tube, and provides excellent contrast and overall picture quality. A higher end picture tube television will actually give a smoother appearance of motion than a flat-panel tv. The primary drawbacks of tube tv\’s are their immense weight (compared to newer technology), and the considerable depth of the sets themselves, both severely limiting your installation choices. Also, the largest tube television available is 36\”, so if you need a larger picture, you might want to step up to flat-panel television.

LCD and Plasma screens are the two options available in flat-panel televisions. Both are incredibly thin and lightweight, and can be wall mounted if you choose to do so. An LCD (liquid crystal display) contains thousands of crystals sandwiched between two glass or plastic plates, which are acted upon by electrical current, creating images on the screen. A plasma screen consists of thousands of pixel cells filled with gases that excite phosphors, producing light, and thereby your picture.

The weight of an LCD and a plasma tv are comparable, with the LCD models being slightly lighter in the 40\” range. As the screen size approaches 60\”, the weight of the LCD overtakes that of the plasma screen. The display panel tends to last longer with the LCD than with the plasma models. LCD televisions are not vulnerable to burn-in, also known as image shadowing or ghosting, like plasma screens. Burn-in is essentially burned, or worn out pixels in a plasma screen that have been damaged over a period of time and retain color information from static images like network logos, etc… Plasma tv\’s tend to have more accurate color reproduction than LCD models, and are currently less expensive than a comparable LCD. While the largest LCD tv at this writing is 65\”, that is likely to change quickly as the technology evolves with the latest innovations in the computer monitor industry. The largest plasma screen television currently produced is the Panasonic TH-103PZ600U103\”, which boasts a massive 103\” screen, and is expected to carry a whopping retail price of about $70,000 when is hits US markets in late 2006.

Remember the old, bulky rear-projection televisions that were almost a yard deep and weighed nearly as much as a VW Bug? Todays digital big screen tv\’s take up much less space, and a 60\” television can weigh under 100 lbs. Digital big screens are capable of brightness that is unmatched by the older CRT televisions, and do not suffer burn-in like the plasma tv\’s. These digital big-screens also contains a consumer replaceable lamp that restores picture quality to its original brilliance. Prices for these sets are very reasonable, usually one half to two thirds the price of a similar sized plasma or LCD television. One disadvantage of the big screen tv\’s is still size; even with technological advancements, these models take more room for installation than the flat screen televisions, and are not practical for wall mounting. The ideal viewing angle is only achieved straight on, and in a seated position.

For a true movie theater experience at home, a front projection tv may be a good choice. This is a two piece system consisting of a projector and a screen. They offer picture sizes up to 300\”, and do not include any type of tv tuner, instead displaying signals from a satellite receiver or cable box. The best viewing experience with a front projection setup requires a fairly dark environment, and is definitely not for everyone. However, for cinema lovers, there is no better way to bring your favorite film to life. Pricing for good projectors starts at just under $1000, and screen prices vary according to size, with most models falling somewhere between $300 and $1500.

Whether you watch mainly sporting events, movies, or dvd\’s, a modern television can give new life to your favorite programming. As technology advances at an astonishing pace, prices for larger and more sophisticated television sets continue to come down. If you do some shopping online and find that you can\’t quite afford the tv that you want, save money for five to six months; no matter how much or how little you are able to save, chances are you will be able to afford the set you want as prices come down. Just don\’t blow the money you have saved - you might need to build a new room to house the larger set you will be buying in two years.

GuruSwipe Is Coming

Monday 13 August 2007 @ 9:10 am

I am launching a new website in September .

www.guruswipe.com

Imagine being able to watch straight over a name Gurus shoulder and take every clever thing that the Guru was doing online and copy it straight into your own playbook instantly.

About Eight months ago I stuck up conversation with an old friend of mine that I had worked alongside 12 years ago when we were both consultants for a large German company.

We had been great friends and it was only our busy lives and young families that had kept us from catching up more regularly.

My old mate invited me over for a beer and I was a little surprised to see a new Mercedes-benz R class in his driveway.

It became apparent very quickly that my friend was in the cash in a fairly serious way and as I asked some more questions I discovered that he had become an Internet Marketing Guru.A Guru? A Frickin Guru? A Guru Ok .

Truth is I thought that a Guru had a beard lived with Lamas and probably knew Steven Segal from his days as an martial arts master and practising monk.

But here was my 36 year old friend happily married with 4 young kids and living the affluent life of his dreams as what I now understand to be a internet marketing Guru, which means that he has mastered the art of making shit loads of money online and working from a palatial house and modern large home office.

Was I a Little Curious?

Hell Yes!!!!!

You see I knew that this same guy was an educated pin stripe wearing corporate sales manager who had been earning a large Six figure income by 30 years of age and that for him to even consider giving up that job had meant he had discovered something real special.

Whats in this for you?

I will cut to the chase.

A few weeks on I had naturally enough become a little obsessed with making money online and I was begging my old mate for the chance to pick his brain a little.

After some months had passed and I had learnt a little not a lot my friend could see that like many others online I was blowing my money on all the latest ebooks and not really catching up, but then he made me an offer.

My friend the guru after seeing I was committed to learning this incredible business offered to teach me this game step by step in nightly lessons at his home office.

After much Blood sweat and some tears after fighting with my wife for staying up till 3am each morning and ignoring her and the kids the result is going to be GuruSwipe.com.

The Guru that I am close personal friends with and now also a partner on this project with is very well known online and you will recognise his name.

When we launch GuruSwipe in early September 2007 the quality of the information and the detail of the content will insure it becomes one if not the most over subscribed offer online in 2007 we have absolutely no doubt of that.

How Sizzling Hot Is GuruSwipe Going To Be ?

You have the chance to register below as a V.I.P member which will mean you get updates about launch timing and also that you will get the opportunity to lock in an incredible pre-launch offer that will have your greedy little heads spinning.
